As long as you are employed at the University of Basel, you can install Office 365 ProPlus on 5 private devices (PC, Mac, tablets and smartphones with Windows, iOS and Android) and also use Office Online. This license must be renewed every 12 months.
Office 365 ProPlus includes Office online as well as OneDrive for Business, which can be used to store data in the Microsoft cloud. This is not a service of the University of Basel, despite the misleading name OneDrive @ University of Basel. On the part of the University of Basel, the use of the Microsoft cloud is released exclusively for private data. The university does not offer any support.
MS Office is already pre-installed on managed computers of the university. Therefore, Office 365 ProPlus may not be installed on managed devices. This offer is exclusively for private use on private devices.
Due to potential technical issues with duplicate installations, we strongly advise against installing Office 365 ProPlus on machines that already have MS Office for Windows or macOS installed.
You can order this product via the Asknet Shop (see link above). If you have any questions about accessing the asknet portal, please contact the IT Service Desk.
Data protection notes: In order for you to be able to use Office 365 ProPlus, DrVis automatically creates a user account for you in Microsoft's Office portal, from which Office 365 ProPlus can be downloaded. This account is created with a pseudonymized, fictitious e-mail address, the part of which before the @ sign you can choose yourself, as the user name. This procedure ensures that no one, neither DrVis, nor Microsoft, can establish a connection between your personal data and your pseudonymous Office 365 account.
