Here is the latest update on the critical PHP security vulnerability.
No Successful Attacks Reported
Based on all available information to date, there are no known successful attacks on the University of Basel. However, a large number of attempted attacks are currently being observed worldwide. We are therefore continuing to monitor the situation closely.
Most services are available again
A large portion of the University’s services are once again accessible via the Internet as usual, because the systems have been examined and patched or are not affected by the vulnerability. Additional services are being brought back online on an ongoing basis as soon as their examinations are complete. A few outdated systems were permanently shut down as part of this work.
Why so many services were temporarily unavailable
Due to the severity of the vulnerability, we took the precautionary measure yesterday of disconnecting systems from the internet where it could not be immediately ruled out that they were affected. Services will only be made available again once they have been examined. We thank you for your understanding regarding the associated restrictions.
